Heir to the Worldbreaker is my final year project, a demonstration of all of my game design knowledge in the most traditional sense; a board game. It was based on an idea to merge the management and city building of a grand strategy game with the exciting and faster paced combat of a skirmish wargame. I invested time in building the world and backstory to help motivate and inspire players to get involved with the game world; there is history to the setting and each faction has been influenced and made unique by that history. The game features 4 different factions with unique units, resources and abilities that drastically affect their playstyle, as well as a 5th expansion faction that was made in my spare time. It also feature Power Cards that can give boosts or create interesting effects and interactions to give players an edge and a full 35 rulebook for the game which includes; turn order and structure, faction abilities, resource management, combat and detailed background on the world and characters in it. This was both my most complicated and taxing project, and there are some mistakes, but it was also the most rewarding, fulfilling and fun and I achieved the goal I thought impossible for one person at the start of the project.
